Couples: Milo and Kida

_{Kida: It is said that the Gods became jealous of Atlantis; they sent a great cataclysm and banished us here. All I can remember is the sky going dark and people shouting and running... and a bright light--like a star, floating above the city. My father said it called my mother to it. I never saw her again.
Milo: I'm sorry. If it's any consolation, I know how you feel because I lost my--wait a minute, wait a minute! Woah, back up! What're you telling me, that you remember because you were there? That's--that's impossible, because, I mean, that would make you, you know, eighty-five, eighty-eight hundred years old.
Kida: Yes?
Milo: Oh, well... Hey, lookin' good.}

I love this movie. It's getting awfully close to overtaking Aladdin as my second favorite Disney movie ever. Every time I watch it, my love for it grows. It was so different from what Disney usually does (which is probably why it didn't do so well). It was just so wonderfully done.
The characters, the style, the music... I love everything about this movie. There is not one thing I would change or add. I can't say that about very many things.

ANYway, back to the picture! This took forever to get onto paper. I think I redrew it at least five times. Geh. And then the coloring took forever because people kept bothering me, and I had to take a break from it for an entire weekend because I had to help my Dad out with some stuff in Las Vegas. But, despite all that trial and error, I am extremely pleased with this. Except for Kida's foot, which looks like puke... but just ignore that, okay? >..>;

I had thought about doing cell-shading to better compliment the movie, but decided against it. I really wanted to paint this. But I also decided to do something a bit different, to paint it, but to try to make it harsher. I don't know if it totally worked, but I'm happy with it.

For this one, I decided to put Kida behind Milo, unlike the other couples I've done so far. I did this because I feel that Kida definitely wears the pants in this relationship--she's the one in control. Not that Milo isn't above being brave or taking charge, it's just that it comes more naturally to Kida. :^3

I considered to make Milo in his Atlantian garb... because you know, it's so sexy with that robe and his tattoos... but my want for contrast of culture outweighed my want for sexy tattoos.

You guys may have noticed that for all of the couples I've done so far, that they're holding hands. You might be thinking, why is that? Well, it's because I think that holding hands is an incredibly sweet and meaningful gesture. I personally think that holding hands can be far more meaningful than a kiss.

I looked online for the quite above... but I couldn't find it! T_T So, I had to write it down myself. My apologies if it's off.
