Description

I had to do something for the most recent :icondisney-club: contest! "Draw the Artists"
But I was having trouble deciding on who to draw. And what to draw them doing. In the end (and at the last minute) I finally decided on the legendary Milt Kahl. And, I went the simple route of just drawing him with my favorite creation of his, Shere Khan.
I do wish I could've come up with a more interesting or dynamic concept for these guys, though. <:^/ I've been having such problems in that department lately. Mneh. Ah, well.

I did my best to mimic The Jungle Book style for Shere Khan, just to tip my hat to the masters just a little more. (Normally I try my best to convert these guys into my own style.)

Pencil and CG.

Milt Kahl
Milt Kahl was born on March 22, 1909. He started work at Disney in 1934, on Snow White.

Milt Kahl is an absolute inspiration. His work in animation is nothing short of breathtaking. His range of animation and designs on characters and characterizations is just jaw-dropping--Pinocchio, the Fairy Godmother, Alice, Prince Philip, Ludvig Von Drake, Thomas O'Malley, Tigger, Madame Medusa... He animated so many iconic characters!
Oh, and Shere Khan. Shere Khan is my favorite of his. (Also I might have a thing for George Sanders~)
Milt Kahl refined like... all the designs for the Disney characters. You name 'em, and he probably worked on 'em!
And he was a true master of drawing hands. If you're having difficulties with hands, look at his work. It is mesmerizing.
Milt Kahl was also the only one who could argue with Walt Disney himself. Like, shouting fights. Heheh.

Also, just as a fun note... although these guys drew cartoons for a living, they were damn serious about it. I got a particularly good chuckle out of this note from Milt Kahl to Ollie Johnston about how Ollie was drawing Thomas O'Malley: [link] Heehee, it's just funny thinking of these guys who drew such endearing characters swearing at each other.

Study Milt Kahl's work, and you will be inspired.
